Port Credit has always been an important gathering place thanks to its ideal location at the mouth of the Port Credit River and along the shores of Lake Ontario. Originally settled by the Mississauga Ojibwe people, it later became a trading center, a small village and a summer holiday destination. 

Today Port Credit is one of Mississaugua’s most sought-after neighborhoods thanks to its picturesque waterfront location, excellent amenities and easy access to Toronto. The Port Credit GO Station has trains that leave for Toronto every 30 minutes and the trip takes just 29 minutes.

One of the main draws to Port Credit is the waterfront location. The Port Credit Harbour Marina is the largest in the region and has over 500 boat slips, plus spots for public boat launches. The pier is lined with park benches and is a great spot to charter a fishing boat. The waterfront is also home to a beautiful lighthouse and great walking trails.

Lakeshore Road is home to several independent shops, the Credit Landing Shopping Centre, and well-known brands such as Shoppers Drug Mart and Loblaws.

Outdoor enthusiasts will love that Port Credit is along the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail. The trail runs parallel to the shores of Lake Ontario and is paved, making it ideal for cyclers, joggers and those who just want an easy stroll. The Mississaugua section of the trail passes through 22 parks including a wetland area.
